Browning BPCR

  • I have owned two of these both in 45-70. I have seen one in 45-90 but never owned or fired one. The two in 45-70 both shot very well with 520gr spirepoint bullets loaded over Swiss 1.5 compressed 0.20 inches. I always load with a card wad and a slip of wax paper (backpapier) to ensure the wad does not stick to the base of the bullet. Really great shooting guns, the first I bought from GeBu back in 1995 or so. The 2nd I imported myself from the US. The only criticism I have is that both had very poor coloration on the receivers. I think it was the artificial color-case hardening done with chemicals.
